Steel Shroud - The Reason For Developing This Unique Security System Called Padlock Protection

We developed the Steel Shroud because there is nothing else sold world-wide that completely encloses a Padlock, its Shackle and both ends of the High Tensile Chain inside a Steel Billet.

The patented Steel Shroud we developed STOPS thieves / vandals from breaking a Padlock by the three common methods used, which are:

Patented Steel Shroud STOPS a Leverage, Hammer or Bolt Cutter Attack on a Padlock.

1. Leverage Attack - Twist the Padlock to make the Chain taut then place a spanner around the Padlock Body then pull down and turn. This is called a Leverage Attack. Very Quick and Very Quiet. Details below.
2. Hammer Attack - Hit the top edge of the Padlock Body with a Hammer or Hammer and Cold Chisel or Screwdriver to break apart the Padlock. Details below.
3. Bolt Cutter - Use a Bolt Cutter to cut the padlock's Shackle or the Mild Steel Chain that is normally used. Details below.

What Is A Leverage Attack

This is called a Leverage Attack, a quick and easy method to break a Padlock of any size.

 A Leverage Attack involves twisting the Chain to make it taut then place a spanner around the Padlock Body then pull down and turn. This is Very Quick and Very Quiet. One of the following will happen:

Bullet Tick The Padlock Body will break.
Bullet Tick OR the padlock's Shackle breaks.
Bullet Tick OR the Shackle pops out of the Padlock Body.
Bullet Tick OR a link of the Mild Steel Chain breaks.

This is called a Leverage Attack, a quick and easy method to break a Padlock of any size.

 The average Padlock only requires a 10 inch spanner to break it. For the small percentage of people who have bought a more robust Padlock all that is required to break them is a longer spanner or as you can see in the picture on either side, place a hollow steel tube on the end of the spanner to gain additional leverage.

The fact is: If a thief / vandal can place a spanner around the Padlock Body or it's Shackle and twist it, it will break.

The problem with a cheap Padlock and Mild Steel Chain is:

Most people use Mild Steel Chain and a cheap Padlock thinking it is adequate security, as per the picture just below:

How Did We Solve The Problem

Like most solutions it was relatively simple to solve the problem of STOPPING a Leverage, Hammer or Bolt Cutter Attack on a Padlock.

Completely enclose the Padlock, its Shackle and

both ends of the Chain inside a Steel Billet.

Finally - To STOP thieves cutting Mild Steel Chain with a standard Bolt Cutter, Hack Saw or any other non powered hand-held metal cutting tool we supply 10mm (3/8 inch) diameter, Freight 70 High Tensile Chain.

Padlock Protection Steel Shroud is manufactured from a Steel Billet using the latest CNC machining technology. To protect the Steel Shroud and High Tensile Chain from climatic conditions both are Zinc plated with a gold passovated finish.
